Mental Illness
Went to IMH today for some toilet meeting. While going around (or touring) to the toilets, I heard and saw some patient struggling to get free from those ties and knots, patient screaming at the top of their lungs, moaning and speaking at some weird language you never hear before. Its really upset and heart-wrenching to see patients been warded to that kind of place and despite with the care and concern from the special medical team, patients still react negatively by hurting themselves and response agitatedly.
I suddenly had this thought: Mental is something that we do not have much control to it.
Most of the time we know what we are doing and that is because its a normal routine in our daily lives. But killing people, hurting themselves, suicide are something it doesn't happen everyday. Once it happens, all these affect your brain by making you NOT to think well and then it turns to Mental Illness.
I was "touring" around the place and when I see the ward building, I was kind of shock. It was considerably dark, even though it was 11am in the morning. It seems like the sunlight can never reach in. When I went into the toilet, the light was so dim that as though you feel that its already 6pm.
I was very curious as on how IMH looks like internally, what do they have, what do they provide, etc. I saw quite a few things that are all specially considered on whether they should use this product or the others. For instance, in the ward building, the toilet's mirror are not those normal mirror. All of us know that if we punch our mirror, it will break into pieces. For the toilets in IMH (ward building), they have mirrors but the quality of the mirror is made of metal. If you guys been through D&T lesson in secondary school, remember the AUTOSOL we have to use and polish on every metal piece so that it appears to be shiny and you can see your face? Yes, thats the kind of metal they are using and they polished till you can really see the reflection of you and it works like a mirror (although it is still not that clear).
Lets just hope that everyone do not feel stress or depressed about anything because there are family members standing by you, sharing the happiness and sorrow you have. Take care peeps.
