Cremated...
My ah ma got cremated on Friday morning at ard 1015am, this is also the time she passed away on Monday. Saw her body came backed on Tuesday, I was looking at her chest, to prove to myself that she really die. I look at her face which totally just turn saggy and a little bit of water retention in her body. The white cloth that is used to cover her body have blood stains on it and she jus lie on the stretcher, not moving at all.
So before putting her into the coffin, we must walk one round, to tell her to take care and go, do not miss us or the things in the mortal world too much. So when she was put inside the coffin, we must shout out loud saying that "ah ma, stay big house" and this big house refers to coffin.
Her face.... I must say, believe it or not, she is worried. She gave a worried face and you really can see the difference. First day, when she reach under the block, it was raining super heavily so we keep saying infront of her that we are really cold and the fan is still on. We tried means and ways to stop the fan from blowing at us and after awhile, the whole electricity just shut off. For nearly 1 hour, we feel warm and not cold because the fan is off. Some of them were saying that ah ma switch off the electric cos when the worker try to fix it, it cant work.
Of cos, from Tuesday till Friday, alot of things happened. Her face changed, she came back.. All these are true and there are eyes to see these changes. It may seems eerie and it is, but this proves that having this funeral, she was there.
Today is her “回魂夜”, which means that in chinese, we believe that the soul are still loitering around in the mortal world, today will be her last day to visit us and see us. To prove on whether did she come back anot, you can either spread the rice(uncooked) at your front door or spread some incense ash to see if there are foot step anot. Put a pot of rice behind at your kitchen with a piece of incense paper stand in the middle of the rice(uncooked) so that she will touch and bless the family. By right, we should put a bottle of rice wine, a bowl of rice(cooked), a vegetable, a pair of chopstick at our doorstep and burn some incense paper for “牛头马面”(dunno how to put it in english but these 2 person are there to drag my ah ma to leave us) so that they wont bully my ah ma. The wine is to let my ah ma drink so that she will go without thinking us too much as she is drunk.
Alot of chinese tradition are dying off and as some of you know, I am handling some of the temple issue and this make me to MUST learn and know all these tradition.
A person just gone off like that, got pushed into the huge fire and then, become bones. Sometimes, I wonder, life is really nothing. 生不带来，死不带去。This is so true because when a person die, nothing can this person bring over.
May my ah ma go smoothly and I believe we will meet again some time.
